A New Morning Obsession

Why Does CBD Affect People Differently?

When you find a product you love, you want to tell everyone about it-- especially when it’s something with as many benefits as CBD oil. You’re sleeping better, you’re less anxious throughout the day, and even your appetite has improved. So how come when someone else gives CBD a shot per your recommendation, they don’t see the same results as you?

This is completely normal, and it doesn’t mean you’re experiencing placebo or that your friend got a bad product. It just means CBD affects you and your friend differently. Just like with any supplement, CBD will affect different people in different ways. Below, we’ll take a look at a few reasons for this.

Weight, Metabolism, and Dosages

Everyone has a unique dosage that will work best for them when it comes to CBD. This comes down to things like your weight, your body type, and your metabolism. Generally, people who weigh more will need to take a higher dose of CBD than those who weigh less. You’ll just need to find what works for you! And since there’s no risk of a lethal overdose of CBD, you don’t have to worry about possibly taking too much.

Genetics and Biochemistry

Another big factor in how CBD affects you has to do with your genetics and biochemistry, especially when it comes to your endocannabinoid system. This is the system in your body that CBD interacts with, and it plays a big role in things like your mood, appetite, sleep, and pain perception. CBD is meant to bring balance in this area, so if you already have a very healthy endocannabinoid system, you may not notice much of a difference! Some people naturally produce more endocannabinoids and have higher levels of something called anandamide (in fact, about 20% of Americans have a genetic mutation related to this) meaning they’re already prone to lower levels of anxiety and therefore may not experience the calming effects of CBD to the extent that other people do. That’s because their bodies are already doing the work for them.

Gender and Sex

Whether you are a man or a woman may also have some say in how CBD affects you. Generally, women will need less CBD to feel its effects than men will, and they may also find it more beneficial-- partially because they may experience higher levels of the symptoms that CBD treats, like pain anxiety. People with higher estrogen levels may also be more sensitive to cannabis and hemp products like CBD.

Products

The effects you feel from CBD will also be partly determined by the type of product you’re using. A pain relief cream likes ours, for example, is ideal for targeting sore muscles, while our cannabinoid oil tinctures, which you take orally under your tongue, are a better way to treat anxiety, boost energy, and sleep well. You should also pay attention to the concentration of each product; the higher the concentration, the more likely you are to experience the benefits, especially if you weigh more or have a higher metabolism.

The Bottom Line

While CBD affects everyone differently, trying it out for yourself is certainly worth a shot. With a little bit of trial and error, you’re likely to find a product and dosage that works for you.
